ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley College will add lights to Arnold Field as part of an extensive renovation project undertaken this summer.
Lights represent the third major component of Arnold Field's transformation during the summer of 2012, complementing the addition of a FieldTurf Revolution field and resurfacing of the track. Arnold Field will be LVC's first on-campus outdoor facility with lights; the Dutchmen have not played a "home" game at night since 1960, when football played Drexel at Lebanon's Alumni Stadium. Their installation reflects generous support of the project by alumni and friends. Additional facility enhancements will be realized as fundraising allows.
"We are very excited to be able to announce competition-level sports lighting will be added to the Arnold Field renovations this summer," said to athletic director Rick Beard '90 M'92. "These improvements will be a huge asset to our athletics and recreation programs, the LVC campus, and our community. Once completed, our athletic facilities will be recognized among the best small-college venues in the country."
The College will work with Musco Sports Lighting, the world-wide leader in the design and manufacture of sports-lighting systems. Musco's portfolio includes NFL stadiums like Lambeau Field, FedEx Field, and Gillette Stadium; baseball stadiums like Nationals Park, Yankee Stadium, and Citi Field; and racing venues like Daytona, Bristol, and Darlington. Musco has lit four Super Bowls and was the official lighting provider for three Summer Olympic Games.
Besides allowing for night games, the new lights will extend practice hours and offer recreation opportunities. It will also ease scheduling demands on Arnold Field as six programs will utilize the renovated facility: football, field hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, and men's and women's track & field.
