Box Score
ANNVILLE, Pa. - A career high 26 points by
Danny Brooks and a double-double from
Jordan Stewart helped push Lebanon Valley into the Rinso Marquette Tournament final with a 79-62 win over Gallaudet.
The Dutchmen (1-1) will get to defend their title against Wesley, an easy 90-53 winner over Rowan in the evening's first game. That game, at 3 p.m. Sunday, will be a rematch of last year's ECAC South semifinals, which LVC won on the way to the championship.
Brooks poured in his second double-double in two games to start the season with 26 points and 12 rebounds in just 23 minutes on the floor, scoring 15 in the first half. Stewart had 14 points and pulled in a game-high 13 rebounds, while
Joe Meehan added 10 points with five assists.
Layton Seeber and Jaris Alleyne had 11 points each to lead Gallaudet, which shot just 7-of-33 (21.2%) in the second half as LVC pulled away from a one-point halftime lead.
The Dutchmen led 33-32 at the break, but hit a 17-2 run while holding Gallaudet scoreless over a 5:09 span to start the second half and take what would prove to be an insurmountable lead at 50-34.
Joey Giangiobbe pitched in eight points and seven rebounds in his second career start, and freshman
Kevin Agnew had five points off the bench. LVC managed to get everyone on the floor, with 11 different players scoring.
Lebanon Valley will be trying to win its 12th Marquette Tournament title; Wesley has never appeared in the tournament's 19 previous editions. Rowan and Gallaudet will meet in the 1 p.m. consolation game.
