Football Ranked #8 In East Region By NCAA

Week 8 NCAA Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.
- The NCAA has released its first football regional rankings for 2009, and, for the first time program history, Lebanon Valley has appeared at #8 in the East.

The Dutchmen, 6-1 for the first time since 1961, will aim to go 7-1 for the first time ever this Saturday at Widener.

Three Middle Atlantic Conference teams appear in the rankings, led by Albright at #1 (7-0 overall, 6-0 in-region) and Delaware Valley (6-1/6-1) at #3. The NJAC also has three teams represented: Kean (#4), Rowan (#5), and Montclair State (#6).

The NCAA releases regional rankings after Weeks 8, 9, and 10 during the regular season as an indicator of team strength by region, using the same criteria used for selection to the NCAA Championship tournament. The rankings are not an official metric and are not used for the actual championship bracket selection.
