ANNVILLE, Pa. – Three Lebanon Valley student-athletes have earned weekly honors from the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) and MAC Commonwealth.
Sam Light was named the MAC Commonwealth Men's Basketball Player of the Week,
Tyler Perhac was tabbed MAC Men's Ice Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, and
Nick Scullin was pegged the MAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week.
For Light, it is his second conference player of the week award this season. The senior was LVC's top offensive weapon during a pair of conference victories thanks to two 20-plus point performances. The team captain scored a game-high 24 points and swiped a game-best five steals in a 76-69 win over Stevenson on Wednesday night before dropping a game-high 27 points on Hood to go along with three assists and two steals in a 92-83 road victory on Saturday afternoon. For the week, the guard averaged 25.5 points, 3.5 steals, two assists, and two rebounds per contest.
His most recent accolade is also the second conference player of the week honor for Perhac this winter. The sophomore was stellar in LVC's two-game series against Chatham last week, stopping 43 of 44 shots across both outings and picking up a shutout victory. In a 4-1 road win over the Cougars on Friday night, the goaltender stopped 28 shots before following it up with 16 saves during the team's 7-0 blanking of Chatham at the 2018 Dutchmen Outdoor Classic held at Hersheypark Stadium the following night.
Scullin put together arguably the best race of his career in winning the unattached 800m run at the Penn State National Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The senior's time of 1:53.70 is the second-fastest time in program history and currently ranks him eighth in the event in NCAA Division III. His time is also the top-mark in the conference to this point and qualified him for next month's MAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. The team captain bested runners from several Division I programs such as Penn State, Maryland, St. Joe's, Buffalo, Monmouth, Bucknell, Army, and Coppin State.
