Bost Earns Academic All-America Honors

AUSTIN, Texas – Lebanon Valley's Sammy Bost has been named an Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), honoring her outstanding athletic and academic performance this spring.

The junior was selected to the CoSIDA Softball Academic All-America First-Team. She joins former teammates Sam Derr '14 and Katie Deardorff '14 as the only players in program history to be named academic all-America and she is the first to earn first-team recognition. Bost is the 23rd LVC student-athlete to earn the accolade since 1998.

CoSIDA's Academic All-America program recognizes outstanding student-athletes for a combination of athletic and academic achievement, voted on by the nation's sports information directors. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors with GPAs of 3.3 or above are eligible for nomination.

One of 10 finalists for the inaugural NFCA/Schutt Sports Division III National Player of the Year award, Bost was named to the NFCA's All-East Region First-Team for the third time in her career following her incredible 2016 season.

Thanks to a her record-breaking junior campaign, she picked up her second MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year award after earning the honor following her freshman season in 2014. It was the just the third time an LVC player has been named the conference's player of the year. She was also voted to the MAC Commonwealth All-Conference First-Team for the third year in a row.

The two-time NFCA All-American ranks third in the nation with a .551 batting average and recently set the NCAA record across all divisions for consecutive stolen bases. Nationally, she ranks third in runs per game (1.46) and eighth with a .577 on-base percentage. LVC's lead-off hitter won the league's batting title by more than 100 points, slugged .661, and led the conference in on-base percentage, hits (70), runs scored (51), and triples (5). This spring, the center fielder reset her own single-season program records for hits, runs, and stolen bases (29), and racked up an outstanding 1.238 OPS.

She has also excelled in the classroom. A health science/physical therapy major, Bost currently carries an impressive 3.92 cumulative GPA. Earlier this month, she earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors for the second time as a softball player, and for the fourth time overall thanks to her back-to-back selections as a women's soccer player.
