HERSHEY, Pa. – Leading up to the seventh annual Pink Game, the Lebanon Valley women's basketball team paid a visit to the Penn State Hershey Breast Center this past week.
Members of the team, along with head coach Todd Goclowski, met with Dr. Maria Baker, an associate professor in medicine with the Penn State Hershey Cancer Genetics Program.
"We had a terrific visit with the staff at the Penn State Hershey Breast Center," Goclowski said. "It was a great opportunity for our student-athletes to see first-hand resources and support available for the fight against breast cancer."
Dr. Baker gave a presentation on the program and its role in breast cancer detection and awareness. The team also had the opportunity to participate in a question and answer session with Dr. Baker following the presentation.
"Dr. Baker's presentation on the genetics program was outstanding," Goclowski added. "Our team learned about testing and counseling and its vital use in providing individuals with information and guidelines based on their family history and/or genetic test results that will help in the prevention and early detection of cancer."
LVC's seventh annual Pink Game will take place on Friday, Jan. 29 against Widener at 6 p.m. All proceeds from the game will support Penn State Hershey's Genetics Program and the American Cancer Society of Lebanon.
Goclowski concluded, "We are thrilled to be able to join our community in supporting the fight against breast cancer and proud to partner with our teammate Dr. Jeanne Donlevy Arnold and our friends at the Penn State Hershey Breast Center."
