Eight Named Softball All-Conference

ANNVILLE, Pa.
– Eight members of the Lebanon Valley College softball team have been named to the All-Commonwealth Conference teams and head coach Stacey Hollinger garnered Coach of the Year honors. The Dutchmen had three players tabbed as First Team selections and five earned Second Team accolades.

First Team selections included Laura Snyder, Meghan Donoghue and Steffani Secola, while second team honors went to Val Malizzia, Kerri Datres, Kristen Uhas, Katie Freeman and Kristen Palmerio.

Hollinger led LVC to the CC's regular season title and an overall record of 31-11, the most wins in program history and second-best winning percentage all-time. She holds a career record of 246-188 at LVC, making her the programs' all-time winningest coach.

Snyder, a three-time all-conference honoree, finished the season with a 13-5 record. In 24 appearances, she posted a team-best 1.58 ERA and set a new single season record for shutouts with nine. She also tallied a team-best and personal-best three saves in 2010. Through 124.1 innings of work, Snyder struck out 162 batters, setting a new personal record as well as a new single season record for LVC.

Donoghue garners All-Commonwealth honors for the first time in her career. A starter in 39 games this season, she recorded a team-best .400 batting average. She also led the team in numerous statistical categories including runs (33), hits (48), doubles (14), RBI (27), slugging percentage (.450), on-base percentage (.450) and stolen bases (5). Donoghue set a new single season record for total bases with 84 and home runs with six.

Secola saw action in 37 games for the Dutchmen during her freshman campaign. Filling the designated hitter role, she posted a third-best .346 batting average with 36 hits and 16 RBI. Secola also notched 12 runs and eight doubles.

Malizzia a three time CC honoree, appeared in 22 games, starting in 19 and pitching 15 complete games. She tallied a 16-4 overall record with five shutouts. In 133.1 innings of work, Malizzia notched 75 strikeouts.

Datres played in 40 games, starting 39 of them. A first time conference selection, she posted a second-best .361 batting average, recording 39 hits and 20 runs. Datres drew 13 walks as the lead-off batter and struck out just six times in 108 at-bats.

Uhas started 40 games for the Dutchmen, notching a .288 batting average. A three-year conference honoree, she tallied 12 runs, 36 hits and a second-best 26 RBI. Uhas now owns the career record for RBI with 93 during her four years at Lebanon Valley.

Freeman hit .316 in 31 games this season. A first time CC selection, she posted 14 runs, 25 hits and 20 RBI. Freeman also recorded a .646 slugging percentage and tied the single season record for most home runs with six.

Palmerio, also a first time all-conference selection, hit .321 through 31 games. She tallied 21 runs, 27 hits and 10 RBI along with a perfect fielding percentage.

Lebanon Valley received an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament and will face Polytechnic Institute of NYU on Thursday, May 13 at 2 p.m. in Ithaca, N.Y. The Dutchmen are making their second appearance in the NCAA tournament. LVC last appeared in the tournament in 2008, falling to DeSales and Defiance at the Regional in Ithaca, N.Y.
