Hoover Leads Women's Hoops to Big Win Over CCNY

Box Score

NEW YORK, N.Y. -
Andrea Hoover had a career day in Lebanon Valley's 79-62 win over CCNY in the consolation game of the CCNY Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, scoring 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Not content with just filling the hoop, she dished out eight assists, picked up eight steals and crashed the boards for seven rebounds. The eight steals are a career high for the guard and equal the sixth-best single-game mark in school history.

One night after struggling to score points in a heartbreaking 57-55 loss to Endicott, LVC had four players score 10 or more points. In addition to Hoover's 17, Eryn Schultz matched her with 17 of her own. Freshman Liz Borgia poured in 13 while Suzie Noyes added 10.

Schultz' five three-pointers give her 149 for her career, moving her past Lora Zimmerman (147) into second place on LVC's career three-pointer list. She trails Serenity Roos' 166 for first among all Flying Dutchmen players.

Borgia led all in the game with 11 rebounds for a double-double.

The Flying Dutchmen never trailed in the game, and were only tied once after the opening tip, at 2-2 with 18:24 to play in the opening half. In the first half, LVC pulled out to a lead as big as 19, a mark reached four times in the first 20. CCNY put together a run late in the half, closing to within 11 at the break.

The lead became just eight after a Donika Rexhepi layup 2:28 into the second half. That was as close as CCNY came, as LVC put together a quick 7-0 run to turn a 56-46 lead into a 63-46 advantage. The lead reached as much as 21 after a pair of Hoover free throws late in the game, before settling back down to 17 at the final buzzer.

Amanda Donia had nine points on 4-of-5 shooting for the Dutchmen, and Caitlin Murphy added seven points. Sarah Colton was the other LVC player to score, adding six points.

The Dutchmen improve to 9-1 on the season and are back on the court 1.6 against Wilkes at home at 7 p.m.
