ANNVILLE, Pa. - Earlier this fall, the Lebanon Valley College men's and women's soccer teams took time to visit local schools to visit students.
first, seven players visited Donegal Springs Elementary School to participate in an assembly for fourth and fifth graders. The theme of the year for those classes is "Stepping UP" and the players talked about what being a student-athlete is like and how setting goals helped get them to where they are as collegiate athletes. Each player covered a core value that is important in the classroom and in athletics:
1. Commitment (Andrew Raudensky)
2. Passion (Sami Young)
3. Purpose (Chris Hall
4. Unity (Alyson Reitmeyer)
5. Respect (George Andriko)
6. Responsibility (Christine Fraser)
7. Discipline (John Wagaman)
After the discussion, the players showed off some of their soccer skills and asked trivia questions with prizes for the students with correct answers.
Another group of soccer players headed to East High Elementary School, where women's soccer assistant coach Jess Conrad teaches. Players brought with them children's books from LVC's library to read to the two morning kindergarten classes.
