2009 Longstreth/NFHCA All-America Teams
CHANDLER, Ariz. - Junior
Shelly Lobach and sophomore
Jocelyn Novak have been named All-Americans by the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association, it was announced Tuesday.
Lobach was named to the Longstreth/NFHCA All-America First-Team while Novak was selected to the second team. The pair represent LVC's 40th and 41st all-Americans, and it brings coach
Laurel Martin's total to 12 since 2001.
Lobach, a first-time honoree, was a first-team all-region and all-Commonwealth Conference selection who drove the LVC offense in 2009. Despite missing three games in midseason due to injury, the junior was LVC's third-leading scorer with 43 points on 13 goals and 15 assists, and she became LVC's all-time leader in assists during the season. She was also the primary penalty corner injector for a team that ranked sixth in the nation in penalty corners taken (13.1/gm).
Novak, who was a third-team all-American last year, is LVC's 11th two-time All-American. The sophomore was third in the nation in scoring as she broke her own program records for goals (35) and points (74). A second-team all-CC and first-team all-region selection, Novak became the fastest player to 100 points in LVC history this year, and now has 67 goals and 142 points in just two seasons.
