WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - Sarah Grodzinski advanced to the final of the No. 1 bracket at the MASCAC Individual Championships Sunday, but fell, 6-4, 6-2, to champion Melanie Nolt of Wilkes.

Grodzinski was the only Dutchman to advance to a final in the flighted tournament, although Shayna Heintzelman, Lauren Fulmer, and Morgan Brady had advanced to the semifinals of the No. 2, 4, and 6 flights, respectively.

Grodzinski, the second seed at No. 1, received a first-round bye before defeating Bekah Roland of Eastern, 6-2, 6-3, and she beat Elizabethtown's Emily Swarr for the second time this week, 7-6 (4), 6-1 to move into the final against Nolt. Her loss to Nolt was her first this season; Grodzinski is 15-1 this year.

At No. 2, Heintzelman had a first-round bye before beating Eastern's Hannah Tobin, 6-4, 6-4, in the quarters, but DeSales' Christine Petrilla won in the semis, 6-3, 6-4.

At No. 3, Tamera Lobb won her first-round match over Lycoming's Erika Niemann, 8-1, but fell to Alvernia's Lillian Snyder, 6-3, 7-6, in the quarterfinals.

Fulmer had a bye in the first round at No. 4, then beat Alvernia's Kayla Morgan 6-3, 6-2 in the quarters, but she fell to Elizabethtown's Madison Pipkin, 6-4, 6-1, in the semifinals.

At No. 5, Caitlin Bedford drew DeSales' Amelia Lloyd, and fell in the first round, 8-6.

Brady won two matches at No. 6, beating FDU-Florham's Carrie Schwartz, 8-1, in the first round before topping Eastern's Amanda Prescott, 6-3, 6-3, in the quarters. Eventual champion Kristi Noecker of Elizabethtown ended her run with a 6-0, 6-1 win in the semis.

In doubles action, the No. 1 team of Grodzinski and Heintzelman received a first-round bye before being upset by Alvernia's Jenny McKee and Kayla Morgan, 8-4, in the quarterfinals. At No. 2, Fulmer and Lobb lost to another Alvernia team, Lauren Ertell and Lillian Snyder, 9-7, in the first round, and the team of Bedford and Brady lost to Misericordia's Jennifer Spott and Lauren Verrett 9-7 in the first round at No. 3.
