READING, Pa. - Lebanon Valley College controlled the first half against Albright on Saturday, taking all seven shots, but Olivia Giuliano made all four saves she needed to in order to keep her team in the game. In the second half, Albright scored in the 56th minute to break the scoreless tie and held on for a 1-0 win.
The Dutchmen were snakebit in the opening half, with six different players sending a shot towards the goal. Only four of those attempts found the net, and all four were snared by Albright's keeper. The manner in which LVC controlled the first stanza was reflected in the advantage the Dutchmen had in corners, 4-0. However, thanks to Giuliano's efforts in goal, Albright entered the second half tied.
Ten minutes into the second half, Albright notched the only goal of the game when Jordan Cassidy deflected Kim Spataro's shot past Sami Young. It was her fourth goal of the season and was all Albright would need.
LVC is now 6-8-1 overall and 1-3-0 in the Commonwealth Conference. Albright improves to 6-7-2, with a 2-2-0 mark in conference play.
