WBB Holds Off McDaniel, 57-48

Box Score

ANNVILLE, Pa.
- Lebanon Valley College held off a late McDaniel College effort to win, 57-48, in non-conference women's basketball action Tuesday night.

The Dutchmen (3-1) held their own despite being outsized by the Green Terror (1-2), keeping rebounds nearly even at 38-37 and racking up six blocks.

Lori Lidlow poured in 19 points, including 12 in the second half, and Andrea Hoover filled the score shet with eight points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Eryn Schultz added 12 points and Caitlin Murphy had three blocks, including two key swats late in the second half. LVC stayed in the game despite a miserable 9-for-20 night at the foul line.

McDaniel was led by the 11-point, nine-rebound effort of Ashley Lyles.

A tight first half saw five ties and neither side lead by more than four, and the game stayed just as close in the second half until a 6-0 LVC spurt put them up by seven with 12:27 to go.

McDaniel answered with their own 7-0 run capped by Lauren Wyble's layup to tie the game at 36. Another slim LVC lead evaporated and McDaniel took the lead on Ashley Lyles' foul shots with 5:57 to go, but consecutive layups by Lidlow and Murphy put LVC ahead for good a minute later.

The Green Terror pulled back within one on another pair of Lyles free throws, but a steal and an easy layup by Murphy put the Dutchmen back up by three with 2:55 to go. Catherine Mills added a layup to make it 47-46, but a foul sent Andrea Hoover to the line for two, and she sank both to go up 49-46.

Meg Biggart sank two foul shots with 1:16 left to pull McDaniel back within a point, but Hoover fed Schultz for a huge three-pointer at the other end to go up four, and two missed treys by the Terror forced them to foul. Chelsea Kehr made both of her shots with 29 seconds left to make it a 54-48 lead, and Lirdlow made one of two with 18 seconds left. McDaniel then turned over their final chance, and Lidlow put the icing on the cake with an easy layup just before the buzzer.

LVC will host Misericordia University next Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
